CONTEMPORARY ISTANBUL, 2012 İstanbul Kongre Merkezi
22 Nov - 25 Nov 2012

The Empire Project identifies and exhibits contemporary art from the regions which have historically been within the cultural sphere of influence centered upon (or significantly affected by) the imperial locus we today call Istanbul. Geographically speaking, the range is wide, including most of the Mediterranean world and Arabian Peninsula, much of Eastern Europe, Anatolia, the Black Sea region, and Central Asia.

The Empire Project will participate to Contemporary Istanbul with a special selection of brand new artworks of its own artists. The gallery can be seen in the stand 111 in the Istanbul Congress Center between 22-25 November 2012.

In the Empire Project stand there are artworks of Turkish artists such as Ali Taptık, Alp Sime, Burhan Kum, C.M. Kösemen, Erdoğan Zümrütoğlu, Gözde Türkkan, Halil, Mehmet Güleryüz, Sinem Dişli, Yuşa Yalçıntaş, and also Athier Mousawi, a British artist of Iraqi origin and Jasper de Beijer, a Dutch artist.

So far The Empire Project has taken part in international art fairs like Marrakesh Art Fair, Viennafair the New Contemporary and Unseen Photo Fair Amsterdam. The gallery will be attending Contemporary Istanbul in its 7th edition this year with paintings, photographies and new media works, and in addition to the artworks they will also have special edition box sets and artist books.
